Front-End / Full-Stack Engineer, Real-Time Dashboards - Own the Operator Interface for a Distributed RF Sensing Network

Tampa, FL | On-site

Opportunity Summary

Join an early-stage defense technology company building RF sensing and electronic warfare systems for demanding operational environments. Small sensing nodes placed throughout secure facilities detect wireless devices and feed that data back to an operations center. You will own the real-time dashboard that turns roughly 15 types of incoming data into a clear, live picture operators can act on, replacing an early prototype UI. Installation, cabling, and network setup are handled by partners, so your focus is the software operators see and use every day. You may also take UI iterations to operations centers, gather feedback, and refine the product.

You will be part of a newly formed team of four to five engineers chartered to deliver a V0 of a new distributed RF sensing product in roughly 90 days. The team starts from a short list of functional goals rather than a fixed requirements document, has a dedicated development budget, and decides for itself how to get there. Expect weekly development spins, with new PCB revisions ordered at the end of most weeks. Iterations are engineer-driven: if you see a way to make your design better, you make the call and the respin gets built.

About Us

We are a venture-backed defense technology startup founded by former Army officers with frontline electronic warfare and cyber experience. The company builds spectrum-control systems that detect, disrupt, mask, and manage wireless signals, and designs its receive, compute, and transmit boards, firmware, and software in-house down to the component level. Systems are already fielded with Army and special operations users, defense programs are advancing toward production, and a new commercial sensing product line is entering large-scale deployment. The team of roughly 15 is growing quickly ahead of its next funding round.

Job Duties

  • Own the real-time operations dashboard and user interface end to end
  • Design how live detections, device types, estimated locations, node status, alerts, and history are visualized across facility floor plans
  • Build operator workflows for alert triage, acknowledgement, and follow-up
  • Build the lightweight services and APIs needed to ingest node data and stream it to the browser in real time
  • Optimize rendering and data handling for continuous, high-rate updates
  • Work with RF, FPGA, and geolocation engineers to define data formats and what operators need to see
  • Present UI iterations to operations center users, collect feedback, and ship improvements on weekly cycles
  • Replace the prototype with a maintainable front-end architecture that supports future deployments

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of web application development with a strong front-end focus
  • Shipped at least one real-time operations, monitoring, or command-and-control dashboard into production
  • Expert-level React and TypeScript
  • Experience building data-dense, interactive visualizations such as maps, floor plans, charts, or timelines
  • Hands-on experience with streaming data via WebSockets, MQTT, server-sent events, or similar
  • Enough back-end experience in Node.js, Python, or similar to build the APIs and data services your UI depends on
  • Strong UX instincts for users making quick decisions from live data
  • U.S. citizenship required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
  • Comfortable turning broad goals into your own plan and delivering on weekly iteration cycles with minimal top-down direction
  • Able to work on-site in Tampa, FL

Preferred Experience

  • RF, telecom, or defense experience, especially data fusion or visualization of sensor data
  • Experience with sensor networks, RTLS, indoor positioning, or other spatial data
  • Familiarity with Mapbox, Leaflet, deck.gl, D3, or WebGL-based rendering
  • Software for public safety, security operations, defense, or other mission-critical environments
  • Experience running usability sessions directly with end users
  • Familiarity with on-premises or restricted-network deployments

Why Join Us

  • Own the interface customers and operators interact with every day
  • Get direct feedback from real operators and see your changes in the field quickly
  • Dedicated development budget, so the team is not forced to cut corners to hit the schedule
  • Weekly build, test, and iterate cycles where engineers decide when a design needs another spin
  • Optional travel to field exercises, new equipment training, and customer demonstrations for those who want it; no one is required to travel
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage with employer-subsidized premiums
  • 401(k) with company match, available from day one
  • Unlimited PTO with no accrual period
  • Streamlined hiring process: one recruiter conversation and one virtual technical interview with the team you would join
  • Join at an early stage with significant ownership and long-term growth as the company scales
